THE WANTING SORT

I’ve always been the wanting sort –

But only what I couldn’t get.

I hated being told “Not yet”.

Why can’t a zebra be a pet?

When younger it was harmless things:

A china doll that really sings,

A dog to train to jump through rings.

But now I’m later on in life

My hopeless daydreams still run rife –
